Frequently Asked Questions
What Size Tent Will I Need for My Event?
Selecting the appropriate tent size is crucial for a successful event. Our rental sales representatives are available to assist you in making the best choice.
- When opting for pole tents, such as Sailcloth or Century models, it’s essential to allow an additional 7 to 8 feet around the tent’s perimeter. For example, a 20’×20’ tent would require an installation area of approximately 34’×34’.
- Ensure the chosen location is free from overhead obstacles like trees and utility lines. Additionally, identify the location of underground utilities.
- Our tent stakes range from 42 inches to 5 feet, depending on the tent size. Cement weight systems are also available for secure anchoring.
Do Tents Need Permits?
Tents are considered temporary structures and generally do not require permits when placed on private property in Rhode Island. However, if a tent is erected on public land, permits are required and fees vary by city or town. We can take care of the permit process for you, handling all necessary communications with local authorities. The permit cost will be added as a separate line item to your tent rental invoice.
How is the security of my rental items managed once they are delivered?
Once your rental items are delivered, you assume responsibility for them.
If your event requires special delivery or setup times due to on-site security concerns, please notify us as early as possible. We’re happy to accommodate your needs, though additional fees may apply.
Which ground surfaces are suitable for setting up a tent?
Tents can be erected on most stable surfaces; however, not all pole tents are compatible with a cement weight system. If you’re setting up your tent on cement, we use cement blocks instead of stakes.
What is a Site Visit?
During this visit, our staff will assess the area to help determine the tent size that best fits your event and available space.
Do I Need to Cut My Grass Before Installation?
Yes, we highly recommend mowing your lawn prior to tent installation. Here are the reasons:
- Mowing your grass a day or two before installation provides a neat and polished look for your event space.
- Avoid mowing on the day of installation. Freshly cut grass releases sap that can stain tent equipment laid on the lawn during setup.
